“Here After” is Kommanivanh’s return to his focused studio practice. Explorations with aggressive mark making, collage, abstraction and sensitive moments of photographic clarity serve as metaphors for his present emotional state. With a careful approach to gesture, the imagery is vivid in color and playful at times. These new works are a reflection of the artist’s changing perception of time, patience, loss and renewal.
