Intern Placement
About the Intern Placement Program
We started this program based on the comments and feedback we got from both artists and interns during the past couple of years. Our Artist Assistance Program allows us to work closely with a select number of artists, but we lack the capability to take on an infinite number of artists while continuing quality work. As a result, the Intern Placement Program was born. The Intern Placement Program is intended to successfully place interns with artists for a 3 to 6 month period. Artists are in need of quality interns and students are in need of quality experience, but we’ve found that both parties don’t always know how to find one another. We work to find quality interns, interview them, and place them with an artist based on their requirements.
Why Participate?
The program is intended for locally working artists who are currently establishing their careers and are in need of assistance in areas like time management, organization, marketing, social media and studio work. Perhaps you haven't had success in the past finding quality interns or perhaps you just don't have the time to find and interview candidates. Elephant Room works to find, interview and evaluate candidates for you after first conducting an on-site studio visit and working with you on your profile. We want to have a 100% success rate so if things do not work out the first time around, we make every reasonable effort to find a replacement. The process can take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks and at the end of that period, the artist will be presented with up to 2 candidates that fit the artist's criteria. After choosing a candidate, the internship begins!
Cost for Artists
There is an initial $50 fee at the start of the process that covers the costs associated with finding, interviewing and evaluating candidates. During the 3 week trial period at the start of the internship, Elephant Room is available to both the artist and the intern to assist with the transition. If the intern is still working for the artist at the end of the trial period, there is another $25 fee for the successful placement.
If you are a student looking for an internship or an artist looking for an intern, send your request to info@elephantroomgallery.com so that we can begin the process with you!

Artist Assistance
The Artist Assistance Program is meant to provide you with the extra help you may need in various aspects of your career. We work with a select number of artists every few months, and all interested in the program will be put on a waiting list for the following semester. The details involved in assisting each artist are varied depending on their needs. Elephant Room will work closely with you on identifying the areas that need development and attention, then implements a plan of action in order to help you accomplish your goals. This assistance helps to further your art career, as well as give our interns the experience of working with locally working artists. You will still maintain ownership and full responsibility of your own art career. We can assist with any of the following:
-Promote the represented artist on Elephant Room’s website and other social media.
-Assist in formulating press releases and other promotional materials for the artist’s exhibitions and events. (Online promotions, email announcements, postcard designs, etc.)
-Assist the artist in creating mailings and press kits.
-Assist in the organization of the artist’s digital portfolios and files.
-Assist in the curating and event planning for the artist’s own exhibitions and events.
-Assist the artist with in-studio organization or in-studio work.
-Actively seek out opportunities for the artist to exhibit their work.
-Conduct any necessary sales transactions between clients and the artist’s artwork.
-Be available to the artist at reasonable times and places to confer with the artist in connection with all matters concerning the artist’s career and their work.
-Provide advice to the artist regarding his/her career in visual arts.
This program is free to artists, but donations are welcome and allow us to continue these unique programs! Should you need more in-depth assistance, take a look at our Intern Placement Program.
